Barbara Lau (FR)

She is a French dramatherapist, systemic family therapist, and trainer based in Paris. She co-founded the French DvT Institute in 2017 and is now the leader of the training programs (level 1 and level 2). In 2024, the French DvT Institute hosted the DvT European Conference. She was a trainer is summer schools in Belgium, Czech Republic and Hong Kong. She is the co-leader of the Shenzhen DvT Institute in China. Her therapeutic approach combines dramatherapy with systemic thinking, which considers individuals within their familial, societal, cultural, and professional contexts. 
Barbara holds a Master's degree in Art Therapy from Paris 5 University and has been practicing since 2009 in institutional settings and since 2014 in private practice. She is also trained in family therapy at the Centre Monceau. 

Actively involved in advocating for her profession, Barbara serves as president of the National Association of Dramatherapy (Association Nationale de Dramathérapie) and represents France in the European Federation of Dramatherapy. She co-founded "Parole d’Ephémères," a theater company that creates plays addressing mental health and social issues. In addition to her clinical work, Barbara has contributed to various publications and conferences, including the "Drama Therapy Review" and "Art et Thérapie." She has also delivered a TEDx talk titled "La dramathérapie: le je en jeu," 

Mathieu van der Straten (BE)

He is a dramatherapist living and working in Belgium. He is a teacher and researcher at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, where he teaches dramatherapy and creative arts therapies. Additionally, he runs a private practice as a dramatherapist and supervisor. With 15 years of experience, Mathieu has dedicated much of his career to working with individuals struggling with addiction and other problems.

He graduated from the Institute for Developmental Transformations in 2018. Besides leading the Belgian Institute for Developmental Transformations for over 10 years, Mathieu has also led several DvT summer schools in Belgium, sharing his expertise and passion for this innovative therapeutic approach. He has previously served as the president of the Belgian Association of Arts Therapy (BVCT-ABAT) and is currently a board member of the European Federation of Dramatherapy (EFD). With his commitment to the therapeutic power of play and creativity, he helps clients navigate complex emotional landscapes through DvT.
